13. April 2012: Miss Quincy (Can)

Letztes Jahr hat sie ihr allererstes Deutschlandkonzet bei uns gespielt und nun kommt sie mit Band wieder und hat ihr neues Album im Gepäck

Miss Quincy

"Miss Quincy isn't just another pretty face with a guitar. Did I mention she can sing? Her voice is a welcome change from the overproduced, synthesized female drones filling commercial airwaves these days. It has character and bite, like a good cigar." - The Calgary Beacon

Tipping her hat to earlier times and the rugged Northern beauty that has been the backdrop of her life, Miss Quincy draws inspiration from the pioneering women who came before, the blues ladies of the 1930's, dirty guitar licks, and sweet gospel harmonies.

In 2011 Miss Quincy embarked on her second independently booked UK/European tour, toured across Canada with a brand new all-girl band, and opened for the likes of Fred Eaglesmith. Her debut album, Your Mama Don't Like Me (2010), was awarded Folk/Traditional Recording of the Year at the 2011 BC Interior Music Awards (CAN) and has received accolades from BBC Radio (UK), Q Magazine (UK), and reached top 5 in the earshot! Folk/Roots/Blues charts in Exclaim! magazine (CAN). Showing no signs of stopping or slowing down, in 2012 Miss Quincy will be touring hard across the UK, Europe, and Canada to promote her new album Like The Devil Does. The album will be released in late spring 2012 and is being produced by Canadian roots & blues legend Tim Williams.

Miss Quincy performs solo, as a duo, and most recently with the all-girl dirty roots & blues band The Showdown (an electric guitar/upright bass/drum trio). Miss Quincy doesn't fit the classic girl singer/songwriter mold and this isn't your average all-girl band.

“A definite star for the future” - Ralph McLean, BBC Radio
